Hi, Check this thread: All forum topics Previous Topic Next Topic. Windows 7 on Compaq Presario F Conexant High Definition Audio. Since I found somewhere that the audio card of this laptop is a Sound Blaster 3d 16 bit compatible, I tried to procure it without success.

I had the latest Conexant SmartAudio HD drivers from Lenovo installed, and my audio was working just fine until the latest Windows Update for those drivers happened. Twice, I fixed the audio by reinstalling the Lenovo Drivers, but Windows keeps. The main symptoms are I can not access any of the major sites (Yahoo, Google, MSN, Facebook) and it appears I can not access sites to do with anti virus, spyware, virus removal, etc.

Hi all, I installed the default AC'97 audio drivers off my HP Pavilion zd8000 driver CD, and i noticed there were some strange occasional click sounds. I plugged in the headphones and they were still there (meaning it's not the speakers themselves). So I uninstalled the drivers in the control panel, and deleted the.sys,.dll etc files that it copied to the System32 folder (if i did not delete them Windows automatically reinstalled the old drivers). I headed over to the and downloaded the most recent drivers. So I install, reboot, and get no sound. In the device manager it gives me the 'Device cannot start' error code.

I clicked 'Update Driver' in the device manager, and had it automatically search for the drivers in System32 since I just installed the updated ones. It identifies it as a 'Conexant AC-97 Audio' and asks for the 'Conexant AMC 3D Environmental Audio Driver Disk' to be inserted Why is it asking for a CD when I downloaded the full driver package for the AC-97 sound card?

Why the hell is it showing up as 'conexant'? I can't even find a conexant website. I'm getting pretty pissed right now. I'm tired of spending 30 minutes downloading drivers from some xxx.tw website in fracking taiwan because they cant provide US servers, and looking at all sorts of typos because they can't even hire someone to translate their pages.
